It’s that time of the year again, spring!
I love it. The dogs love it. Who doesn’t love it?
With spring, you get the perfect blend of cold breezes with the right amount of heat. Perfect enough to break a sweat, but cool enough so that you don’t overheat. Since we have a mixture of long haired and short haired mutts, it allows the whole pack to travel just about anywhere.
Our pack consists of breeds like: Standard Poodles, Pit Bulls, and all sorts of mixes! We love gathering other dog geek friends and hitting the great outdoors as soon as spring comes around.
Spring always stands out because of how great everything looks. Everything in the wild is perking up, flowers especially. With fresh blooms you get lots of active humming birds (my favorite kind of bird).
There’s nothing like walking along a trail and catching the aroma of fresh blooms. That, along with hummers chirping intensely. (Male hummingbirds are very territorial and can spend all day warding off other males from good feeding grounds. Watching male hummers display precision turns at super high speeds inches from your face is awesome, for sure.)
Here in Southern California, most beaches and lakes are warm enough just around spring. But we like saving the beach and lake trips for when it’s too hot for a hike. We take full advantage of what the Angeles National Forest has year round, but mostly spring. We’re able to trek farther and longer with less fatigue and no signs of overheating–dog and human.
I thought it would be neat to show dog lovers our list of dog adventures this spring. We’ll be updating this page regularly, so be sure to check back and see what new photos we add.
Lake View Terrace Marsh Trails – Good variety of creeks, soft shaded trails, and lake.

It’s always a race to the water for these two (Nick and Roscoe).

Roscoe and Nick running wild chasing fish and water fowl.

Mixture of soft dirt and sandy trails (Perfect for Frisco since he has mild arthritis in his right knee).

Frisco isn’t a swimmer but he always has his head deep in something, that’s for sure.

Purple Lupine finally in bloom.
